Each school day Mr. Crilley visits a different primary school and along with teaching the various Rock N' Pop instruments he has the absolute pleasure of rockin' out with children for an hour too!
By the end of each term the schools very own Rock N' Pop band (or bands even!) get to show their school what they have been learning that term at the bands very own
'GIG IN SCHOOL!'
Along with that Mr. Crilley is known for taking the bands to performances outside of school to events such as school summer fete's, birthdays, village festivals etc which can be seen on TWITTER!
joining band is assumed new to the children so no experience is necessary. This is the same for instrument lessons too.
Mr. Crilley is renowned for inspiring new musicians with the bands on stage in an assembly and loves starting his day in Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7) teaching the various instruments to the younger generation. The perfect way to start his day!
Mr. Crilley has worked with many head teachers over the years and thus understands each school dynamic and its ethos and therefore caters his teachings to work alongside each of his schools with strong communication.
Bands have an hour at lunch time or after school and also receive an accompanying lesson so that the children know what to do in their band time.
Along with making new friends Mr. Crilley's band experience provides children with the opportunity to grow in confidence, work as part of a team and develop musicianship plus much more.
All bands perform at the end of each term in their school assemblies. This not only gives the children the chance to play for their teachers and friends but also gives them a massive boost in confidence that only gets better and stronger every time they perform.
Being in a band acquires good discipline and Mr. Crilley's successful regular format achieves this. His A, B, C (attendance, behaviour, commitment) rules ensure each child enjoys learning their songs in a safe and controlled environment with the best results.
Studies now show that learning an instrument is proven to help reduce anxiety and stress in children which promotes positive emotions therefore encouraging a happy and positive experience at school.
Learning and playing popular music involves having to learn multiple parts for the various sections of a song which obviously improves our memory and will of course benefit other subjects in school.
It is no surprise that playing in a band burns plenty of calories physically and mentally and in turn increase children's independent coordination skills amongst many other skills.
